What is Grandview Children’s Centre?

What does Grandview do?

Grandview Children’s Centre provides outpatient rehabilitation services for Durham Region children and youth with physical, developmental and communicative special needs. These services include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech-language pathology, audiology, social work, medical services, preschool outreach, family facilitation and therapeutic recreation programs.

The main facility in Oshawa and five satellite sites across Durham Region serve over 5,600 kids per year, and 2,800 more are on the waiting list – some wait up to 18 months for the services they need. As the Region’s population continues to grow, it is estimated that approximately 10,000 children will require Grandview’s services by 2031.

Rodman’s and Grandview

Grandview Children’s Centre is an independently operated not-for-profit organization and while the Ontario Government subsidizes the cost of therapy, it is not enough to serve all the kids who need help.

Grandview Children’s Foundation raises funds to support Grandview Children’s Centre and its education partner, Campbell Children’s School. They believe every child deserves to reach their full potential and that is why Rodman’s Heating and Air Conditioning is proud to partner with this organization.

Rodman’s focuses on two of Grandview’s many fundraising events during the year, Family Day at the Generals Game and the Golf Fore Grandview Kids Charity Golf Classic.

Rodman’s Family Day at the Oshawa Generals game takes place every February. A portion of the ticket sales goes to Grandview as do proceeds from a 50-50 draw and a toonie collection taken during intermission. One Grandview kid is chosen to drop the puck and is the center of attention for the day. Game attendees look forward to highlights such as crazy antics on the ice, t-shirt tosses and morphs running loose.

In May, Rodman’s participates in the Golf Fore Grandview Kids Charity Golf Classic. Over the years we have volunteered, sponsored holes and donated to the silent auction. It is always a great day and a generous amount of money is raised to support the programs that Grandview offers.

As the need grows, naturally more space is required. The Town of Ajax has granted Grandview a five acre parcel of land for the new Grandview Children’s Centre headquarters. With fundraising and a financial commitment from the province, plans will be underway soon for breaking ground. Rodman’s is happy to be supporting the organization during this exciting time.
